2018 reflection

This week room 5 and 6 tasks was to make a DLO about our 2018 reflection. I found it was a lot of work to do and I found it a little hard because I had to write a lot about my learning and a lot about what I was involved in this year, I had to really go in depth and explain a lot about. But on the side note I found pretty fun to make and create a prezi presentation  and I would again make another one if I had to. Take a look at my presentation about my 2018 reflection.

Buoyancy

Over the past term room 5 & 6 have been working a lot on buoyancy and how it works. Our task aso was to make a presentation all about buoyancy, like how things float, why things sink, density, surface area and much more. I didn't really like this task as much as I would because I don't really know much about this topic. I did only a little bit enjoy task because I was working with a couple of people and they helped out a lot. Take a look at my buoyancy topic.

I am poem

I am Payton
I am shy and sporty
I wonder what I will be when im older
I hear the wind rush past past me as I rush to the try line
I see people looking down and cheering for me
I want to be kind and happy throughout life
I am Payton

I pretend to be the best sports player ever
I feel like a superstar
I touch those who are sad
I worry when people are sick
I cry when I am hurt or sad
I am Payton

I understand
I say good luck to all those who need it
I dream to be in the netball reps
I try my hardest to achieve my goals
I hope I will become successful in life and never put anyone down

I am Payton

This week Room 5 & 6 task was to create any type of writing we got choose out of poems, reports and lots of others. Today I decided to create a I am poem. I found this pretty easy because i've did a lot of these before. I also kinda enjoyed it because it was a pretty easy task and it didn't take that long. Take a look.

since last term room 5 and 6 have been working on our student conferences if you don't know what a student conference is, it's a slide about yourself and how you've been doing over the last terms, when you've finished your student conference your parents come in and you talk about your work and behavior with them. this week we have had our parents come in and talk with us. This was a hard time because it took for ages and we had to write like haw the teachers would write our report. it as pretty cool though and I hope to have another one of these. check it out.

We have each created a slide with lots of information. the hard thing about this is creating something creative and cool that helps. The easy part about this was basically everything else. My Matariki HAIKU

This Friday room 5 and a bit of room 6 has made a HAIKU about Matariki with Whaea Chris. A HAIKU is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, the first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables  and the final line has five again its a bit tricky at first but you'll get used to it. Well for me the hard part about this was learning it at first because I didn't quite get it but luckily I finally got the hang of it. My next step is to make a challenging and difficult HAIKU.

My Waitangi experience

This week Room 5 & 6 went to a place called the Waitangi Treaty grounds. We have been have been lucky enough to come here this week because most schools don't come here that often. We did lots of awesome things with technology including green screening, V.R, 3D and 2D, stop motion, and play with dash the robot, we have also got to look in the museum and look at Ngatokimatawhaorua and whats the story behind it and do lots more fun things. Take a look 😊😏😆

Anzac

As you may know it is Anzac soon and Im pretty sure every school celebrates it by doing some sort of DLO or other activity, so that what I did. This is my slide about Anzac involving research about some soldiers, my very own poem and many more. The hard part about this was thinking about what I would  put in a tin if I could, because they have to have the right food and things to put in and the tin is pretty little. My next step is to ask anyone around the community if they know anybody in world war 1 that are apart of Anzac.

Term 1 reflection

Through out these 2 weeks room 5 and 6 have been doing a Term 1 reflection where we say what we enjoyed, if we have completed our goals this term and other stuff like that. I think the hardest part for me this term was to try say at least one thing in front of the class because I am pretty shy at school. The easy part for me this year was trying new and challenging things. My next step is to try do the thing that was most hard for me on this list. I hope you enjoyed my blog post.

My favorite part about the trip was sailing, going in the big globe, and seeing the yachts. Take a look at our video.

Anzac- summer learning journey

This poem makes me feel both sad and angry, that people went to war and died, I think war is totally unnecessary and wish it didn't have to come to families losing their loved ones but i am very grateful that they gave their lives for our freedom. R.I.P and thank you to all the soldiers who died for us.

What to do
As the new century dawned, New Zealanders settled into a period of relative calm. The calm lasted for about 15 years but came to a sudden end in 1914 when World War I erupted in Europe. The war lasted for almost five years and claimed the lives of 18,000 New Zealanders.

It also claimed the lives of thousands of men and women from countries around the world. Every year, we remember these brave men and women on ANZAC Day (25 April). Many people go to a special Anzac Day ceremony where they read a special poem that was written for the fallen soldiers. The poem is called ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae.

Read the poem. On your blog, tell us what you think of the poem. Do you like it? How does it make you feel?

what to do
At the turn of the century, there was a great deal of construction happening in New Zealand. Many of the new British settlers wanted to build homes and community meeting places, such as churches. One of the largest buildings to be constructed during this period was St Joseph’s Cathedral in Dunedin.

St Joseph’s Cathedral is just one of hundreds of beautiful cathedrals around the world.

Use your search engine to find a picture of another famous cathedral. Post a picture of the cathedral on your blog. Underneath the picture tell us: the name of the cathedral, where the cathedral is located, when it was built, and how long it took to build.
