My Matariki HAIKU

This Friday room 5 and a bit of room 6 has made a HAIKU about Matariki with Whaea Chris. A HAIKU is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, the first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables  and the final line has five again its a bit tricky at first but you'll get used to it. Well for me the hard part about this was learning it at first because I didn't quite get it but luckily I finally got the hang of it. My next step is to make a challenging and difficult HAIKU.

  1. You really understand how a haiku poem works and I love your Matariki poem. Check your last line though, how many syllables? I can see 6 :)

  2. Hi Payton, I remember you commenting on my blog so I have come to return the favour. At school we are doing some matariki work as well, but this personally looks really good! I am not sure if Maori has 2 syllables or not, but anyway you have done a amazing job. It is way better then what I could do!
    Keep up the great work,
